Since it’s Senior Weak now, and at the same time it’ll soon be a year that I’ve been around here, I figured I’d do one of those “best of” posts. I’m sure Oppo will survive all these shenanigans, so here’s to another year of me (poorly) writing about awesome old racecars, weird Lego stuff I make, and how badly I need to get back behind the wheel of a Formula Renault 2.0. Shit’s a drug, and an expensive one.

France might be a bit of an !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , but I still got to meet an Oppo from New York, and that was awesome. Hopefully we’ll do an EurOppo Meet sometimes in the near future! You guys (and gals) are an awesome bunch.

So with that done, I’ll be in my bunk, reading glorious shitpost and writing a thing about how the Prius is awesome, how downsizing sucks balls, and about a Pebble Beach like event that’s happening in a couple of weeks near Paris, which is going to be awesome. I really have to buy a camera.

Hold on to your collective butts, Oppo! And thanks for the fish.

But in all seriousness, hop on the Eurostar next June and we can have an oppomeet at the festival of speed. There’s a few of us in South East England and there’s a guy moving from the US to within 10k of me. I’m sure we can get something together for this spectacular event.

I would love to go to the FoS at some point, but admission+eurostar+sleeping there is out of my reach financially right now. I can’t speak about next year, but I doubt I’ll make it. Maybe the year after that?

Like the 24 hueres du mans it’s one you’ve gotta experience once.

Of course this is just me talking, closer to the time, I’m sure there will be a more detailed discussion. I’m reasonably near to Goodwood so of course I could give people transport if they stayed nearby.

It looks amazing I agree, and it’s definitely on the bucket list. But I can drive to Le Mans in a couple of hours and stay there for free, so I’m a bit partial to that!

Yes I do! I never realized this got famous outside of, well basically Paris, since it’s quite a new event. But it’s awesome! Cool to see that someone’s heard of it here.

Well, europe is a bit low on this kind of events, so word tends to spread rather far.

It’s a shame it’s over 400kms away, since it is on the last day of my holiday, so it would be a nice way to end my holiday.

I recommend it, it’s a pretty awesome event, and the place is wonderful. Of course, that’s provided the weather stays good, which is a bit of a gamble.

I almost want to ask for authorship on Oppo just to post a Prius review myself (I’ve got a 2016).

And I’d argue that Mazda’s entire gasoline lineup (except for the CX-9, which uses a downsize and turbocharge formula... purely because Mazda no longer has a FWD-based platform that can take a V engine, and they no longer have any engine family larger than a 2.5 liter 4-cylinder anyway) is proof that downsizing only works on the NEDC (not even really the EPA tests, although it works a little bit there), not the real world. (I need to check Fuelly and fueleconomy.gov numbers for US-spec cars, and Spritmonitor numbers for Euro-spec cars, to be sure, before I say that conclusively.)

I’ll think about it, seeing my roadtrip to the Nurbürgring fell through maybe I can convince some friends into joining me on this one.

I saw on the website that there is a dress-code, so that would mean I have to have my suit cleaned, since that hasn’t happened since I went drinking with some friends and a staff member from my university when we were in Istanbul past December.

Honestly, you should ask for that Oppo authorship! I don’t have these kind of powers, but an Oppo review of the new Prius sounds fun. Try hitting up Party-Vi if you feel like it.
